The titles below are roughly 1 hour programs and include some hands-on samples of armored mud balls, and other rock-mineral-fossil samples. I will bring my books for sale at discounted prices, too. Yahoo.
Franklin County has Jurassic armored mud balls, one of the rarest sedimentary rock structures on the planet! In fact, this is the only place in the world where you can easily see, touch, and study these interesting, photogenic, and fun geological oddities! Prof. Little, the discoverer of these intriguing features, will explain how he found them, how they form and why they are so rare. The armored mud ball saga is a story of plate tectonics, floods, climate change, and other geologic events. It a human story of the birth of a suspension bridge (yes, it had to be a suspension bridge), the death of a bowing alley and a fortuitous field trip picnic. What a story! Are the Jurassic armored mud balls important enough to become officially celebrated as a Massachusetts State "Sedimentary Structure?" Yes!
Western Mass. is the best place in the world to study geology, but this magnificence has many mysteries that will be explained, such as deep holes in the Conn. Riverbed, weird post-glacial river directions, how the Conn. River cut through the Holyoke Range, and why the Glacial Potholes can't be glacial. Our magnificent local geology can kill you! I will tell you how to save your life (really!).
